My interest in the goddess Persephone inspired many of the poems in Suddenly, Fruit. I suspect I have been drawn to the myth because of the idea of depths and surfaces. The hard work of reaching up and out, and the hard work of remaining in darkness. The cast of characters within the cyclical drama offers rich and fertile ground, as well.
